We are very honored to receive the “Tested and Approved by Seniors” certification . This label, created by AFNOR Certification in 2016, was developed in partnership with Calyxis and Medialis Laboratories. It is part of AFNOR Certification’s commitment to “aging well” and improving the lives of seniors and their loved ones.

The “Tested and Approved by Seniors” certification elderly people whether a product truly meets their needs. After all, who better than a senior to know exactly what works for them? That’s why products seeking this certification are tested directly by people over the age of 60. They are then evaluated by experts specializing in products for elderly people.

To be eligible for the label, the product must meet several requirements. The rating given by seniors must be 7/10 or higher, the score given by experts must be 5/10 or higher, and the final result must be 6/10 or higher. This is a weighted average, with the seniors’ score accounting for 2/3 and the experts’ score for 1/3.

Lumeen was reviewed in January 2021 and received an overall rating of 8.5/10, with a score of 8.1/10 from senior reviewers and a score of 9.3/10 from experts.

Seniors' Reviews of Lumeen

The testers—who are volunteers—find themselves using the product in a realistic, simulated environment. A usage scenario immerses each senior in everyday activities, encouraging them to interact with the product and its features. Each participant then evaluates the product based on a grid of 13 criteria, assigning a score from 0 to 10 for each. Lumeen received the following scores:

The Lumeen usability test report concludes as follows:

"The seniors greatly appreciated this program, which gave them a genuine sense of relaxation well-being. The participants emphasized that they had had a wonderful experience. Indeed, being able to escape and travel through different landscapes allowed them to disconnect from their daily lives and their worries."

He also highlights the various reactions of seniors after using the solution : “What a wonderful experience! I was able to travel back in time for a moment!” explains Marcelle, 90. Other testers say: “I didn’t think I’d have the chance to try such technology at my age” or “Technology like this could replace morphine! It did me a world of good.”

Experts' Review of Lumeen

At the same time, independent ergonomists and occupational therapists analyze the product’s quality. To do so, they rely on a protocol proven protocol and on observing the behavior of older adults during the testing phase. Lumeen was evaluated based on nine specific criteria, including ease of unboxing, ease of setup and use, and how intuitive it is to use. Here are the scores it received:

The report explains that“experts strongly endorsed this solution. Numerous advantages were highlighted, such as the device’s ease of use and high adaptability. They also noted that the support provided by the LUMEEN team, along with the instructions and tips available on the tablet, enabled users to get up to speed quickly and use the device effectively.”
