With the ongoing goal of providingGetaway experiences for people who are vulnerable due to age, illness, or disability, Lumeen has decided to undertake a VR film project to bring people face-to-face with dolphins. 

One of the best spots in the world for swimming with dolphins is tucked away in the Sataya Lagoon, off the coast of Marsa Alam, Egypt. It’s an exceptional setting that we naturally chose to bring this film to life.

To take on this challenge, we enlisted Simon Duflo, a freediver and VR filmmaker specializing in underwater filming. Thanks to Leina Sato and Laurélène Chambovet, who gave him access to the legendary sailboat Le Bohemia for a week, he was able to capture images of rare intensity. A big thank you also to Valérie Brodahl of Turquoise & Améthyste for her invaluable support.

It took many dives to get to know these Animals, gain their trust, and get close to them—always with the utmost respect for their personal space, without ever touching them. Dolphins are remarkably sociable creatures: in the footage, they can be seen playing, twirling, and inviting divers to join their dance.

Simon himself came away from the experience transformed. And it is precisely this extraordinary sense of well-being—this rare connection with life—that he has managed to convey in every image. The result? Quite simply magical.

With this ambitious project, driven by immersive storytelling, we wanted to take viewers on an unforgettable adventure: the thrill of the boat setting sail, the feverish preparations before the dive, the suspended magic of a face-to-face encounter with dolphins, all the way to the ultimate reward of a blazing sunset over the Red Sea. The goal: not just to show an experience, but to make viewers feel it.
