Lumeen and the Léon Bérard Center Win Malakoff Oncology Call for Proposals Dedicated to Supportive Care in Oncology

We are very pleased to announce that the project led by Lumeen, in partnership with the Léon Bérard Center, has been selected as one of the winners of the first call for projects dedicated to supportive care in Oncology, launched by Malakoff Humanis in partnership with AFSOS (Association Francophone des Soins Oncologiques de Support). This prestigious support will enable us to develop and adapt our virtual reality program for cancer patients.
A co-design partnership with the Léon Bérard Center
We are delighted to partner with the Léon Bérard Center, one of the world’s most renowned cancer centers. Over the next 18 months, we will work closely with their supportive care teams. Together, we will adapt our existing technology and co-design new immersive experiences specifically tailored to physical and psychological care in Oncology, whether in curative or palliative care. This co-design process will involve ongoing feedback from patients and caregivers ensure that our solutions perfectly meet their needs. This project will also result in numerous resources and testimonial videos that will be shared publicly.
230 projects submitted, 6 winners
The submissions were reviewed by a scientific committee that also served as the judging panel, composed of four members: Ivan Krakowski, past president of AFSOS and medical oncologist; Florian Scotté, president of MASCC and medical oncologist at Gustave Roussy; Isabelle Huet, executive director of the RoseUp Association; and Marion Barrault, psychologist at the Bergonié Institute.
We are proud to have stood out among so many projects and to have been selected by such a distinguished jury.
Why Supportive Care Is Essential
In addition to specific cancer treatments, supportive care offers a holistic approach to helping patients better cope with their illness and treatments. Supportive care is diverse and multidisciplinary, and is recognized for its benefits in improving patients’ quality of life and their chances of recovery. It includes pain management, nutrition, psychological support, vocational support, physical activity, and Palliative care.
“Supportive care in Oncology an integral part of the care pathway and is neither secondary nor optional. It helps reduce post-treatment complications, increase survival rates, and optimize social life and the return to work. The number and quality of the proposals we received demonstrate the importance placed on this issue, which is a true public health challenge , ” says Pascal Andrieux, Director of Social Engagement and Philanthropy at Malakoff Humanis.
