The “Screen Projection” feature: a great asset for your Lumeen sessions

Did you know that you can project the Lumeen tablet onto a TV or a large screen? In response to strong demand from our customers—particularly in the Care sector include more participants—we implemented this feature several months ago. After testing it at several partner facilities, we’ve found that it offers several advantages. Let’s take a look at the benefits together!

Make it easier to learn about Lumeen and choose an immersive experience

Even before the immersive experiences begin, the new feature allows the catalog of Lumeen’s “Escapes” to be displayed on a large screen. This setup enables all residents to view the images and titles of the available “Escapes.” They can then more easily choose and select the immersive experience they want.

Similarly, “Screen Projection” makes it possible to organize sessions with a larger number of residents. This allows the headset to be passed around to several people in turn, even during the same viewing session, without losing the flow of the session

 

Making activities accessible, regardless of any challenges faced

The “Screen Projection” feature is designed to offer an alternative for people for whom certain activities are not recommended, as well as for elderly people most reluctant elderly people . This makes immersive experiences accessible to all audiences, while respecting their lifestyles and habits. It’s an idea that caregivers activity coordinators love!

Some sessions brought together as many as 10 participants, including some with cognitive disorders . Spurred on by this group dynamic, a resident suffering from advanced phasic disorders was able to indicate the virtual reality experience she wanted to try, and then describe much more fluently what she saw through the headset and on the screen! Another resident, who has Parkinson’s disease and is all too often bothered by her excessive salivation, gradually “let go” as the session progressed and happily allowed herself to be carried away by the immersive experience.

Promote sharing and mutual support among residents

Because this is also about solidarity! By making it possible to support more people at the same time, the new feature fosters more dynamic sessions. And the magic happens all on its own: before long, residents who can read the subtitles become the “tour guides” for the others’ immersive experience.

Together with the PASA residents, the facilitators encourage the participants wearing the headsets to look around and comment on what they see. At the same time, they guide the residents watching the big screen using the tablet. The virtual tour of Lyon is a huge success and brings back memories for the participants, who turn out to be quite talkative!

Encourage a fun and participatory presentation

As the experience comes to a close, it’s time for debriefing. The facilitators lead a debriefing between each immersion session and at the end of the full session. And here again, the new feature acts as a facilitator. First, by displaying the end-of-session quiz on the big screen. Participants with hearing impairments can take a more active part in the debriefing by reading the questions and answers on the big screen. Answers come flying in, and so does the laughter.

Furthermore, by providing an opportunity for group discussion, facilitators can capitalize on the group dynamics among the residents, who have all shared the same experience. Each of elderly people share what she took away from the session, any anecdotes that may have been shared, and how she felt.
